Scripts: what to text, what to say

Copy-and-paste words for when you have none.

One of the hardest parts of a bad day is telling someone about it. Finding the words when you can barely think. Explaining something you don't fully understand yourself.

These scripts are designed to take that pressure away. Copy them, paste them, edit them if you want — or send them exactly as they are. No one needs to know you didn't write them from scratch.

To a friend or family member

"Hey — I'm having a rough day and I don't really have the energy to explain it. I just wanted to let you know. You don't need to fix anything — just knowing you're there helps."

To work (manager or colleague)

"Hi — I'm not feeling well today and need to take the day. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for understanding."

You don't owe anyone a detailed explanation. Short and clear is enough.

When you need to ask for help

"I'm struggling at the moment and I could do with some support. I don't need advice — just someone to check in. Would you be able to text me later?"

Why scripts help

When your capacity is low, even small decisions feel heavy. Having words ready removes one barrier. You don't need to be eloquent. You don't need to explain everything. You just need to send something — and these give you a starting point.
